Dear Ken;
This letter deserves to be longer than it is – I owe you thanks on many
fronts for bringing "Oh Mr. Sousa!" to Citrus last month.
As you know, I have liked the show since our earliest conversations, and I
have never regretted the decision to present it. The way you combine a history
lesson with so much wonderful music made it a unique event for our audience;
the talented folks you rounded up for both the vignettes and the band were
well prepared and obviously enjoying themselves; and your willingness to incorporate
our student musicians into the ensemble provided them with a unique learning
experience that meshed perfectly with our mission as a college presenter.
Equally important to me was your consistent attention to the details surrounding
a successful engagement, with swift responses to questions and continual contact
throughout the process. I have seldom exchanged more phone calls and e-mail
messages, and never enjoyed them more. It is a rare experience for a presenter
to host an engagement that is not just a performance, but truly a hosted collaboration.
Bravo to you – and your staff – for committing so fully to
making this a “win-win-win” collaboration for artist, presenter,
and audience.
My very best to you as you continue to showcase Sousa in the seasons to come.
Please convey the thanks of myself, our staff, and our audience to your cast
and musicians for creating a show that was as much fun to present as it was
fun to attend. Every one of you are welcome back at Citrus any time!
Warmest personal regards,
